Printing a report using a Datamax Printer

I am have set up a report that is supposed to print on a Datamax printer, but nothing comes out. After further research I have learned that I need to use a special programming language (DPL or DTPL) to get this to work. I a programmers manual but I have no idea where to put these codes. Does anyone have experience with this, your help would be much appreciated.
