Printing a € (Euro) symbol in Lotus Notes

Dear all,

I have designed a form in Lotus Notes v.4.6.3 that has many € (Euro) symbols on it.

Whenever I come to print out the document the € symbols do not come out on the printer.

It makes no difference if the € symbol is in a field or just as text on a form.

I have ruled out the problem with the printer as I can print the € symbol on other applications such as MS Word.

Has anyone else had this problem in Lotus Notes?

Does anyone have a solution for this?

We are working with R5 and we also have problems with printing the €-symbol. If two users print the same document on the same printer one gets the €-symbol printed correctly, the other one is left with blank space. I searched the web and found several postings around this issue both from R4 and R5 users.

The problem could be related to the printer you use (as far as I'm informed MS Word prints characters in graphics - WYSIWYG). Notes uses one font to display the sign, and the printer uses a substitute font. You could try to update the printer driver.

Another suggestion: Open Notes Client - goto file - preferences - user preferences - Basic. Change the default fonts to any of the true Type ones (change all 4 of them)
Secondly in additional Options mark "Enable Unicode Display".

I can't garantuee that one of the ways will work for you (they didn't for me so I'll be forced to forward any future documents containing the €-symbol to my workmate as he doesn't have a problem printing it... ), but it might be worth a try.
