Guys,

We had a major issue with the server, and basically it ended up being reinstall and reconfigured, meaning that there are a couple of small changes on things like the printers. (Name of the printer, name of the port etc.)

Now when I try to edit or even open any reports I get a message saying that the printer has changed. If I click on OK then nothing happens. The reports will just not open (design or normal).

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve.

If I remember correct dhookom answered a similar problem to set a default printer. I don't remember the thread number

Thanks Zameer,

I know dhookom answerd a similar question I had where the answer was to set another printer as a default and then set it back to the printer you want in Windows. However it's not working this time.
It was in thread703-1016189 but like I said, no joy this time.

Thanks again,

Steve.

I am no expert on this, still.. did you try a compact & repair.(backup first!!)
and did your reports had a specific printer to print as default than the windows default printer?

Yeah, tried the compact / repair. It's affecting all databases that I had, not just the one. The reports were all pointing at the default as far as I am aware.

Thanks for your help Zameer.

Steve.

It never happened to me. My default printer is a network printer. I change printer time to time depends to the requirement. But never a situation like this. Of course I get a errormessage (not finding the printer) if the PC that connected to printer is off.

Hi Zameer,

I've given up. I've just re-created the old printer on the server and used that. The reports seem to work fine now. Not sure if there is a proper workaround for it or not...

Thanks for your help.

Steve.

There might be a workaround. Or is this a bug?

I'm looking towards bug personally. You change your printer and your database (which could be mission critical) stops working?!
