SNA Server 4 with SP4. We have a box that printers keep going down on. We have about 260 printers on it and have to keep rebooting the server to get them back. Does anyone have a clue why this happens and how to fix this??? Does anyone know the limit to devices allowed in SNA?

Thanks,
Keith

I just finished working on this issue with Microsoft. First thing we did was build local queues on the SNA server for all printer sessions. These queues point to the ip addresses of the local and/or remote printers. This way the sna server is not trying to copy down drivers from other print servers. when this was happening we had alot of problems. since doing this the problems have gone away and the servers are much more stable. we also are no longer allowing sna printing to workstation attached printers.

We had the same problem. And we used the same solution as Irving (TCP/IP printing and printqueues on the SNAserver). Now our SNAservers are stable again.
