I have a client that is using NDPS for about 30 printers. They want to switch to Windows 2003 server shared printing. Can print drivers automatically be downloaded to the users workstaions like NDPS. How would you do this if possible. I am looking for step by step instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I know that Windows 2003 Small Business Server Edition has this functionality. By default, each client on a SBS network will automatically detect available network printers (at boot time) and make them available to the user.

If you are using 2000Pro and above workstations you can specify add printers at logon using a vbs script and this will automate the task.

If not users can browse to the shared printer on the server and double click it's icon this will download the driver and install it.

Hope that helps.
