Hi

I have a user on my network who intermittently loses his printer icons in start/settings/printers he is unable to print when this happens, also his add printer icon disappears at the same time, star/shutdown sorts this out but does anybody know how to avoid this situation?
client w98, ethernet cat5 network, Nt server

I know of a reason the icons dissapear, but I don't really have a good solution. The icons dissapear when the print spooler goes bye-bye. The only solution I have found is to replace the spooler files. As for how to replace them, I user a good old fashion windows re-install. In the case of newer printers that implement thier own spooler (specifically epson, lexmark, and HP) you may be able to fix the problem by updating all your printer drivers to the latest posssible versions.
