Suddenly, I can't print on my HP 690c. (I'm running Win2000.) If I try to print either a real document or the test page from the Windows printer gadget, the printer starts to respond, as if it's about to pull the paper, and then get a "Device is not connected". The device obviously is connected, since the printer does start to respond. The problem started suddenly, with no obvious cause.

Help!

Thanks.
T.

Try removing the printer drivers and re installing them. Print a test page from the printer to make sure it is working properly.

If the driver reinstall doesn't work for you, be sure to try a different printer cable.

Check your inkjet nozzles aren't blocked or clogged.

This is quite common if you use refills or 3rd party ink cartridges. Although the printer seems to be ok, it will stop responding when initialising the print head a few seconds before printing.

If you have one, try another cartridge. But be sure to check for any ink contamination to the carriage and mechanism.
