I have a little lexmark z51 desktop printer, about $150 bucks. The power connection, a little cylindrical shaped plastic object where the power cord plugs into the printer itself seems to have gone bad.

So I took apart the printer and found that it is soldered to a printed circuit board that also includes the parallel port as well as a USB.

As it would seem to be a shame to just throw away the whole printer because of this one little part, I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get spare parts, or even if it's worth it to do this. There are a only a few identifying marks on the ciruit board, but I haven't been succesful so far in determining where to get a replacement part. Some of the things printed on the board are ROME CONNECTOR CARD and various serial and ID numbers.

Any ideas? I guess I should also probably contact Lexmark. Q: Why is my computer doing that?

You could replace the pcmount with wire and get a connector of a different type to put on the end with a matching connector to replace the lexmark type on the power supply.
It isn't pretty, but it is effective.

Good suggestion - but that'd be a kind of difficult, as the pcmount (if i'm using the terminology correctly) is attached directly and soldered to the circuit board. I guess I could unsolder it and try to attach wires, but that would be getting rediculous.

If I could get my hands on another one of those circuit boards, that would be the thing to do, but Lexmark says that they don't stock them, and told me to just throw it away and buy a new one. - kind of wasteful, but i guess that's the way it might have to go...... Q: Why is my computer doing that?

You can either break the plastic up and desolder the contacts, or you can break it up and trim off the excess and use part of the contact as a tab to solder the wire to.
In any case , 10 to 15 minutes of labor saves purchasing another printer.
Of course I'm cheap, and over the years have become proficient at making do. Ed Fair
