Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know if there is a configuration file that controls the SMIT dialogs for "Default Print Job Attributes." I am suspecting the answer resides in files located /var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/smit/, but I am not sure.

On our previous system, we could see other attributes such as code page, pitch, etc. Currently, I can only see "SEPERATOR PAGES." Items can be changed via the lsvirprt command, but I was wondering how that information was populated in SMIT.

Any thoughts or help on this would be great.

Thanks,
Ethan

The AIX General Programming Concepts: Writing and Debugging Programs book has everything you'd ever want to know about how SMIT does its thing (link is directly to SMIT section).

Before tinkering, though, be sure to make your own copy of the sm* ODM files and adjust your ODMDIR evironmental variable, as described in the Adding Tasks to the SMIT Database section (expand the System Management Interface Tool item in the left hand pane to see it). Altering the ODM files directly would be asking for a whole lot of grief.
