Dear All,

I have a print server setup but when trying to connect to the printer, windows wants me to create the printer locally. Is there a way around this?

Thanks

More details. What kind of printer? What kind of print server? How is the printer connected to the print server? How are you trying to connect to the printer? What OS?

Please answer all, thank you.

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

You should always create the printer locally but you will need to create a different kind of port to install it on. If you answer Matts question above then it can be figured out how you need to install them - i.e. LPR ports TCP/IP ports,
