I have absolutely no experience with Paradox but I think the program is the cause of the problem I've run into. I have a customer who is using Paradox to print hundreds of forms to a printer. When the program was originally set up the customer was using an Epson DFX-5000 dot-matrix printer. They would now like to change to an IBM 6400 line printer. When they send the report to the new printer it does several reverse line feeds at a certain point in each form that it's printing. I've had the customer send the report and put the printer into hex mode so I can see what is being sent to the printer. At the point where the printer is acting funny the code shows some Epson bitmap codes that tell the printer to reverse the form feed slightly. The only reason I can find for this code being there is to place a certain field of data into a box on the pre-printed form the customer is using. The new printer they want to use doesn't need these codes to be there. I'm sure the bitmap codes are the cause of the problem.

The customer has told me that Paradox sends the document to a Report Writer prior to sending it to the printer. Could this Report Writer be inserting the codes into the data stream? If so, how can I stop it from putting the codes in there?

If it is a third party report writer, like Crystal reports, then you would have to check its documentation.

I am fighting a similar problem with a dot matrix printer right now. The new printer won't accept page size change requests from Paradox, so I'm going to have to try writing the report line by line, instead of using a structured report.

Mac :)
