Dear all,

I feel exhaust on supporting citrix's user on printer problem. Some user could not find their own printer but
could see other's users printer. Why?
I test it my self but I found it is completely ok on my
print server. is it related to different print server?

Thanks.

How are your printers being shared and are you using Auto printer creation or manually selecting printers?

you also have to install the driver on the Citrix Server for all OS's that are connecting.

Users being able to see other user’s printers usually happens in cases where Anonymous logons are configured. Or the ICA Clients have the same name.

It would help to know if...
1. your users are using Auto created Printers.
2. you are using anonymous logons.

This could help us analyze your issue further.

Thanks all,

we are using auto create printer, but some user could not auto create while other could. (but those users are using same os) and we are using NT logon.
Any hints, please let me know, thanks.
If there any other method that create the printer manually for that user now?

Thanks.

You need to check what driver name the user is using locally.
The best way is to look in the Server Event log, choose application event log and look for Error 1106 which is AutoCreation Failure.

This will give you the client name and the Printer Driver name that they are using.

If you have a similar printer driver installed on the server you need to map the clients driver to the server driver.

You do this in CMC, select the Printers and Right Click, you can then Choose Map Printer. Please Note that the Name must be typed in exactly as shown on the client including Capitals and spaces etc.

I have alised all HP printer Drivers to use HP laserJet 4,5 and 4Si drivers which has stabilised the server and stopped Blue Screens of Death.

Death,
I have check the event log already, no 1106 error appear, but there have another erro CTLMGR something, is it related?
and what is CMC?
Thanks.

I'm having a similiar problem. My server is set up to autocreate printers. On 2 NT4.0 workstations the printer in question autocreates perfectly. On 6 others, it doesn't show up at all. Yet a different printer that is also installed locally on all the workstations shows up perfectly too. So the autocreation feature is working. There are no driver differences between the server and the workstations. And I am getting the CTLMGR error in the event log, however the timestamp of the error message does not correspond to when my users log in and the printer fails to autocreate.

The knowledge base says something about Metaframe 1.8 for NT Terminal Server SP 2 solving client printer mapping issues, but I can't find SP2 anymore. Has anyone had any problems installing SP3?
