Hi,
First of all find out the IP address of the network printer. Now add an entry of this IP alongwith any name(say prn_srv) in the file /etc/hosts.
try to ping this name/IP address. If u are able to ping then give the following commands:
lpadmin -p prn-608 -s prn_srv!608S_HP5PS
where prn-608 is name of printer on solaris system
608S_HP5PS is how the printer is known on N/W
lpadmin -d prn-608 (to make it your default printer)
With this your N/W printer is setup ....try to print...

I hope this helps.....

Try the JetDirect Printer Installer for Unix. You can find it at the HP web site. It works for HP LaserJet as well as other line printers. Set up the printer in UNIX, then set up the printer from Oracle.
