Hello every time I start up my computer which is connected to a Lexmark Optra E320 Printer. It prints two hearts. My operating system is windows 98se and I have the latest drivers installed for the printer. It prints fine other that it is a waste of paper every time the computer starts.

Thanks

Try starting with the printer turned off. When you then turn the printer on, does it still print the two hearts?

I will try diogenes10 suggest next time I have a chance. In regards to kiddpete's post, when I turn the printer off and then start the computer, and then start the printer it doesn't print the two hearts.

Thanks for all of the help

That means its not really sending something to the print queu. It's something like a turn on transient of voltage going to the printer.

Here is a guess,

Try playing around with your port type settings in the BIOS.

SPP ECP EPP

If it is a bydirectional printer (monitored by software) SPP won't be to helpful.

Also, Diogenes10's post looks promising

good luck
