How do I find out who has printed on the printer. A customer claimed files were printed under her name but not printed by her. Is there a command or through smit...where I can find out the status of who prints and where and what they are printing. "Is it not possible to print a file owned by someone else from your machine and have it come out as if the other person printed it?"

Thanks in advance

Are you using any special print software? Does your software have pring logs? Do you have user logs as to when the user was logged in, the time she claimed to have printed the document etc..

We are not using any special software and no pring logs. The customer was logged in at the time of the incident.

if you can read a file, and you can print, you can print any file you can read, therefore you can print any file you can read. as yourself, i believe, but we don't print directly from AIX here so i cannot test this. the print job should originate from the user's shell and therefore have the username of the printing user on it.

if she did print, you cannot acquit! IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation
