i would like to know if anyone has ever seen an hp 9650 in action, and what may cause it to not print the colours properly. i can print regular pictures in windows just fine, millions of colours. but when i want to print in autocad, colours do not come out right. magenta's come out red, and so on. if anyone could lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated. i have tried uninstalling the printer and drivers many times, but that didnt work. this is on a P4 win xp machine.

SAXMAN99,

I have not seen an HP9650 in action but your problem sounds similiar to one I've had in the past. Since you have uninstalled and reinstalled your printers, I can only assume you are using the latest and greatest drivers from HP. If not, make sure you are.

Once your sure your drivers are up to snuff, edit your ctb/stb files. The two areas in particular are the dithering and greyscale areas. I have found on some plotters, they needed to have both of these options enabled to produce the proper color and lineweight. Once in a blue moon, you'll need to get into the actual printers properties under the advanced (tab or button) options and configure the printer's processing options. I had an HP755 where we had to adjust how the printer handled lines crossing each other!
