We are using a financial software application in our organization. For print output, we are using a Dot Matrix Epson Printer. We have installed Epson Printer Driver on computers that are using this application.

Recently, we purchased a new computer for an accounts officer. Motherboard of this computer does not have parallel port for Dot Matrix Printer. Now we are stuck as what to do. When we try to install the printer driver on accounts officer’s computer, we cannot select LPT1 Printer Port.

The model number of motherboard is Intel® Desktop Board D945GCPE.

According to the software application support person, the software always searches for LPT1 port.

Is there a serial port on the3 m/b? There are serial-to-parallel converters but also USB-to-parallel adapter, but be prepared to try a few before you find one that works. Another solution that looks interesting: Red Titan Parallel Port capture

Best of luck.

The issue can come about because the software is specifically looking for 378H and IRQ7 which you will not be able to locate with anything other than a M/B with built in parallel port or an ISA slot with a parallel card.

In those applications where I've run up against the hardware requirement it has always required a M/B change.
