I have a Windows 2003 Standard printer that serves 32 network printers. I want to be able to tracking how many print jobs each printer accepts and from which users & machines. I know there are a number of Printer Auditing/Monitoring packages out there. I’m trying to find one that you don’t need to install directly on the print server. Does anyone know of any good printer monitoring packages out there? Does Windows 2003 natively have a way monitor/audit/log print jobs?

There is basic auditing possible within the properties of each printer. Get properties of each printer and select the auditing tab.

It is the interpretation of the logs that is the hard part.

I've saved the System log file on my server and saved it as a *.CSV file. Is there a way I can easily sort this. SO I can easy see which users printed to which printer and how many pages they printed.

Did you turn on the printer audting first?

I didn't need to. The System log had all the informtion that I needed...User, printer document and number of pages...
