Hey all,

I have a question regarding the reliability of the CMC printer mapping. I was out of the game for a while and am just getting back in. I always used the wtsuprn.inf in my previous environments. It was a pain but seemed to get my printer situation squared away. I am at a new company and they are being hammered with printer related issues. They do not use the wtsuprn.inf file but instead use the CMC printer drive mapping. My question is has anyone seen or know anything about any issues with the CMC drive mapping?

oneworld,
The CMC printer mappings should be listed in your wtsprnt.inf file not your wtsuprnt.txt file.
The txt file is just a sample file of how to use the .inf file.

If you look at your wtsprnt.inf file (located under c:\program files\citrix\system32) you will notice all of the mappings in the CMC mappings configuration.

If you add any mapping with your CMC...it will automatically push that out to all of your citrix servers.

Hope that helps.

Sorry about that I did mean the wtsprnt.inf file. The main thing that we are seeing is that sporatically printers don't autocreate. Everything seems to check out alright but we can not get to the bottom of the issue. I was wondering if there were any known issues with CMC updating the .inf file.

oneworld,
I don't think so but you might want to do a couple of things.
The first thing is to update your clients to the latest ICA client from Citrix's web site.

The next thing I would do is update all your Citrix servers to the latest Service Pack and hotfixes.

Also make sure you have the print drivers, you are mapping to, are installed on your Citrix servers. I know that sounds kind of dumb but think about if the client is trying to map out to a LJ 4000 PCL but the driver isn't there!

Either push out the drivers via Printer Management or if you have some kind of rapid deployment application (like ghost, HP rapid deployment or IBM's RDM) I would create an image and push it out to your servers. That way your servers are identical with all the latest hotfixes, patches and print drivers.

Hope that helps.
