I have a Dell 3110cn that is connected via USB. Whenever the Dell printer goes into sleep mode and I try to print something - it will not print until I restart my computer.

I tried turning off sleep mode on the Dell printer - but there is no option to do so (max time before sleep mode is 5 minutes).

Any one ever ran into this type of issue? Could this be a driver issue?

Thanks,
Pinkman

System OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

Go into Device Manager and under the printer device (IF listed) AND the USB root hub, change the following option.

In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.

In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. The "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box is displayed.

UNCHECK the box under all instances of the USB root hub.

Reboot and see if this helps.

Have you tried waking up the printer first manually by pressing one of the control buttons?

Pour some coffee on it. It always works when I'm sleepy. [wink]

Hint: This is ONLY a joke. Do not pour coffee on any electrical device, unless you intend to kiss it good-bye/good-riddens.
