Friends!
I´ve a HP692C on Windows 98. When I send a report by windows it doesn´t print.
I looked the printer isn´t offline. It is the standard printer.
When in command mode I type "dir > prn" printer prints ok.
My problem is just printing by windows.
I have already reinstalled the driver.

thanks
Elias

Next is to totally clean out the printer, reboot, and reinstall.

printing by windows"

All programs, or just some programs? Did it ever work properly on this computer? If you go to Control Panel > Printers > right click on the printer Icon > choose properties > click on "test page". What happens?

I'm not sure how my problem occurred, buit I could not print from Internet Explorer. I eventually found in print properties that my left and right margins were set to more than the paper width.

Have you done a scandisk and a defrag lately? If this problem has recently started, I'd suspect a fragmentation problem and would start there. Keep your HD as clean as possible.

Can not running scandisk and defrag cause a printer not to print?
I dont believe in scandisk and defrag and never use them. I have one machine running for over a year and another running fine for 4 yrs, both with the same install and no loss of speed. Personally, i feel scandisk and defrag cause more problems than they can fix.

No, neither will cause the problem. Scandisk will resolve crosslinkages and other problems that most MS operating systems are subject to. Defrag is just moving stuff around to make it more efficient.

Both have their place but their value depends on how the machine is set up. I haven't run defrag on anything I have and the only scandisk ops have been from system restarts after crashes.

click on "test page". What happens? Nothing .
All programs ? Yes all programs.

Thanks
Elias

Also, printing from the command line uses a different port if this is a network printer. If that's the case, I suspect a firewall is blocking it. If you've got one, try disabling it temporarily and see if it works.
