I have an hp 8150 that is connected to my network. The problem started a few weeks ago and is now getting on my nerve. Every time a print job is sent, the printer does not print it. The status is ready and after a few seconds I get an "Error. Failed to print" message on the computer. Once I restart the printer, whatever job is there, it prints it right away. I've tried pinging the IP/host name and I get no packet losses. Please help with this issue.

Have you added additional RAM to the machine? Tried a factory reset?

This printer was placed before my time, and the RAM on it currently is 32MB. I havent tried the factory reset, but I guess I can go in that direction latter in the day and see how that works. If this is done, it isn't the same as uninstalling the printer? Would users have to added to their list of printers again?

What is the OS that the users are trying to print from? When did this start happening? Immediately after a new PC was installed or hooked up to this printer? Is this the networked version or is this shared out from one PC? Does your model have the internal HDD?

Depending on how the printer is set up, a factory reset might not require a lot of configuring after the fact, all kind of depends how this is installed and set up. Print out a configuration page before anything is done.

The OS is XP SP3. This happened a few weeks ago, when I changed the DNS settings since I had install a new DSN server. I restarted the file server that same day. The printer is connected to a file server via network. The link you posted is the actual printer I have.

Double check the settings in the printer since the DNS issue would make sense with what it is doing. A factory reset followed by reentering the settings should fix it too.
