Hello, I can't find the answer to this anywhere on the web. I found a similar question on this site, but it was a network issue.

I have a PC - WinXP Pro, SP2. It is connected to a Brother 5140 laser printer via LPT1.

When I installed the printer for the first time. Everthing was fine. I shared it on my P2P network, others could use it OK too.

But after re-booting, the printer won't print. After inspecting the Printers control panel, the printer is still there, but is shaded and marked as "Offline" even though the printer is on.

Now if I delete the printer from the Printers Panel, and re-install. It works fine again, until ofcourse, the next re-boot, where the cycle starts again.

This problem is over come if I use a USB cable, but we swap printers around now and then and some of them don't have USB ports. So I would really like to work this out.

Any ideas?
