Can anybody recommend a printer for high-volume cardstock? We currently use HP4050 and 4250 printers using tray 1 to print upwards of 12,000 cards at a time 4 times a month.
Needless to say, we're going through tray 1 pickup assemblies and fusers left & right. These printers are just not robust enough to handle our volume. Were already using the straight paper-path, but the fuser gets so hot we melt them and end up spending $400/month on new ones.

They dont have to be color printers - we'd brefer black and white actually..can anybody recommend a more suitable printer or solution for under $8,000?

also, if you can cut down on the print jobs to 50-100 pages per print job then wait 1-2mins between jobs for a cool down with your current printers.

possible set up a times schedule so you won't over heat and alternate between a few printers so you wont have a down time of printing.

You could always get an HP 5si,older model but a work horse
could get one for under $500 maintenance kit is under $200
But if you have a budget go for new high end 8150/9000

You know, you might want to look into a copier instead... for printing. Such as a Canon ImageRunner or some such... they're made to handle card stock... and if you lease it, and get a maintenance agreement....

... just a thought....
