printer esc strings

hi i need to send


esc&l5H to a printer at the begining of a print job to select the paper tray.

how ?


im using lp

In the /usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/interfaces/PrinterName add the following code:

echo "\033&l5H\c"
in the for file in $files loop

PHV's line should be in the interface script just before the "cat file$> " line near the bottom of the script.
And normal use would probably be to put the normal tray back active after the print job is finished with another line after the file is dumped.

And if this is a printer that other people use you probably need to create another interface strictly for your job, using the same hardware point.
