Printer driver problem 1

I have problem with my printer driver. My printer is lexmark model z605. When I insert the usb into the pc, I wonder why it shows lexmark z600 found instead of z605. Anyway, I went to search for the driver (i lost the driver) and I found it and downloaded it in

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:389:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=557.

But after I unzip it and update the driver, the system says can't find the driver. I am using window xp.

The driver you downloaded is the same one your using. It shows as Z600 because the driver covers the Z60x series, Z601, Z604, Z605.

But then how come I can't manage to install the driver.

Usually printer drivers you download are an executable with their own installer and can't be applied by updating the existing driver with the downloaded executable.

in device manager.. find your printer... click update driver..click automatic..

it should find the new driver... ( if you've already launched the file)
if not, specify where the new driver is... if it still can't find it..
extract the contents of that new driver package and specify to the driver installer, where you've extracted those files...

Cut your losses. Shoot anything labeled lexmark and don't look back.
But seriously, driversguide.com has always been a trustworthy source of drivers/info.
Live, human tech support would be the best start.

I would remove all printers by deleting them and then reboot the PC. When Windows say it found new hardware refuse to install it. Then while the printer is turned on and plugged in, install the driver. Sometimers you have to upgrade DX 9.05b and XP SP1 to get the drivers to install right.
