hello,

I have just installed from IBM AIX cd new printer drivers, and now when i select a new network printer with 'smit mkpq' command the system answer me : 'your selected is not installed. Press Enter to
install software support packages for printer
attachment types (and printers).'

for information : my current packages for printer is 4.3.3.75

I don't really understand ??
can u help me please | !!!!

This sounds like the network printer option is not installed. This is probably the JetDirect option whichmay or maynot be what you really want. Simply put in your AIX install CD's and install the printer filesets and you won't have this problem. Or you can install all of the printer package. This really isn't that large.

It seems strange you would be installing a new AIX 4.3.3 when the support for this product expires in December.

Do an lslpp -l | grep printers and post the results.

Exactly when does the error message occur?
Did you select 'hpJetDirect' or 'ibmNetPrinter' or 'remote' printer?
What kind of printer are you trying to print to?

If it is an HP LaserJet 4000 and you have selected hpJetDirect, then you should not get the error.
