My company will soon begin a major printer consolidation project.
The company has over 8400 employees and roughly 1 printer for every 5 employees. Way too many printers man. We got departments with a printer for different Office apps- a printer for Word ,a printer for Excel, etc, we got floors filled with cubes which sit 4 employees and on each employee's desk is a printer.
Not just any printer we're talking HP 8550s and Lexmark Optra s 1625s. Too many printers man. The powers that be want to get rid of some these unneeded printers of course for cost concerns and other reasons.
I have been tasked with finding the some plans for the project.
I looking for any assistance anyone can provide. Some of my questions are
1- Has anyone ever taken part in a Printer Consolidation? 2-If so how was it planed?
3- Do you have any ideas for the best way to go about this project?
4-Do you have any ideas for turning a profit off the confiscated printer?
