Hi All,

We installed a Symposium Express (4.0), we can print out the daily reports manually, but it wont do it automatically. How do I get Report Listener to open (or work). Also, is there a way to email the reports from the Symposium or export them to a file that we could access?

Thank you for all help!

I could be wrong here but I seem to remember that the PC that was used to set the auto report must remain on during the period the report runs. Something to do with using the default printer associated with that PC.

To get the report to email out, you need to have an email account for the SECC server. I think it's quite complicated.

Certainly in Symposium 5 and CC6 you can export a file in a number of different formats to a shared drive. I assume you can do this with express but I have not worked with express for a while now.

Captain is right, the report listener needs to be running on the client PC when the report is scheduled to run.

You can also export reports with SECC, but the version of Crystal Reports in SECC is very old, so the export choices are for older application versions (Excel, Work, Adobe, etc..)

How do we get Report listener to run on Symposium and on the Client??

When you install the Client, Report Listener is automatically installed. Look for a small icon of a printer and a number 1 in the task tray.

If it is not there, then check your client installation.

The computer must be on with the Report Listener application running when the report is scheduled to be run.

So, you need to have a couple of things done:

- The DNS setting on your SECC server have to be configured. Without that, scheduled reports will bomb.

- Clients who have scheduled reports need to leave their PCs logged on. When the SECC server tries to kick off a report, it will essentially send a notice to that client pc -- if it's not logged in, it will error out.
