Hello,
We are on 7.6.200 MS SQL, one workstation (2000pro sp4), is having a problem printing any report to screen, it seems it just started happening 1 to 2 weeks ago. I saw an earlier post and followed all those suggestions:

Checked drive space
Checked Mappings and shortcuts
Reinstalled MDAC
Reinstalled Macola
Cleared out scr tmp files
Permissions are good
Reinitiallized reptpass table

Software installed within that time period but not directly linked to problem: ADP Payroll, and quickbooks 2005.

Any other suggestions, I just don't want to have to wipe that particular box clean.

Or anything on how to completely un-install macola?

Much thanks in advance.

Devin

We are running 7.6.200, Pervasive SQL and could not run ADP Payroll on the same machine as Macola. Never did figure out why, just unloaded Macola and lived with it.

Here's the solution, I don't know why I didn't see it on exact's site earlier. Just for anyone else that might have the same problem.

When printing to screen, I receive an exception_access_violation. I can print to printer and file fine. In an MSSQL environment, I may receive an Abnormal Cleanup of Macsqlconnman error in addition to, or in place of, this message. This error can occur on 7.6.200 and newer versions of Progression.

The error also produces an error report in the Macola root directory that begins like this:

COBOL97 COBOL ERROR REPORT

What can been done to resolve this error?

Answer: This problem is caused by an incorrectly registered font on the workstation. Here are the necessary steps.

1) create a folder someplace on the workstation.
2) go to the fonts folder in the control panel and make sure non are marked read only or system
3) go to DOS and through DOS copy all the fonts from the fonts folder to the temporary folder.
4) go back into the control panel and delete all the fonts (there are some you can't delete, that's ok)
5) copy the fonts from the temporary folder back to the fonts folder through the control panel to reinstall the fonts.

If this does not resolve the issue, repeat the process, but instead of copying the fonts back into the fonts folder in step 5; copy the fonts from a different workstation into the fonts folder of the problem workstation. This means it will be necssary to copy the fonts on the other workstation.
