Print to Remote Devices only advice???

I'm running SUSE 10.1 as my desktop and ALL my printers are connected to my LAN with individual print server devices that use BSD/LPD protocol.

I've installed Turboprint on my machine (because it contains the drivers for my specific printers) and I am wondering IF I need to install and/or configure ANY OTHER print management software in order to manage all my daily printing (remember -- ALL printing is to these remote/network printers)?

Any suggestions, recommendations, advice?

Thanks

It looks like it is just CUPS with a few extra print drivers. I always just use CUPS to handle both local and network printers, so I doubt that you will need anything else.

The only thing that I will warn you about is the firewall. Typically port 515 (LPD) is blocked for outgoing connections in the SuSE firewall, so you may want to disable the firewall while doing your initial configuration and verification. Once you know the printers can work, then work on getting the firewall to allow it.
