When I try to create a pdf by printing to pdf, the progress bar comes on 3 bars then locks. I have looked for the acr*.tmp file to see if it is full but cannot find it. I have 6.0.6. Help!
Thanks

What application are you creating the PDF from? Usually when this happens there is something in the layout that is stopping the printing, an image, a colour, a hidden character or something that the postscript engine doesn't like.

Try making the pdf by using ranges of pages. If you have 100 pages then see if you can make 10 pages, if the 10 pages work fine try the next 10. Until you hit the snag. Then print each of those 10 pages individually until you find the page with the problem.

Then see if there is an image there, try resaving the image and replacing it in the layout. Check for any weird hidden characters and see what else could be causing it to stop the pdf.

Sometimes you just have to make that page on its own and then insert it into the pdf you've made. So if the pdf errored on page 38 on my 100 page document I would pdf pages 1 - 37 and then pages 39 - 100. Then I would pdf page 38 and combine the pdfs. Sometimes that works.

Thanks but I don't think that is the problem. I am only trying to print one page and it does not matter which application I am in.
I had this happen once before and it turned out the temp file withing acrobat was full and it would not accept any more so it locked up. I just don't remember how to find that temp file.
If you are familiar with that can you tell me where the file is and what it is called?
Thanks

I don't know where you find that file, perhaps do a google search for acrobat temp files?

In 10 years of making pdfs every day the above I wrote is the common problem, I've never even heard of your problem before.

I've seen this problem or one very much like it. There's a difference in "Convert to PDF" and "Print to PDF." The former is where I've encountered your problem. The latter is where I've resolved the problem!
