I have a remote user who uses PCAnywhere to log in to a Win98 machine in my office. From there, she logs in to an application on AIX (used to be SCO). She could send print jobs from SCO to a printer set up with a PCAnywhere port, and it printed on her local printer in her office. How can this be set up to work from AIX? (AIX Version 5 release 2, I think)

I don't see anything in PCAnywhere's literature (I use VNC for remote control) about printing to the controlling computer. Either it's poorly documented, or there's another process involved here.

Once she has remote control by way of PCAnywhere, what application is she using on your pc to log into the AIX application? A terminal emulator? or some sort of Windows based client?

If the former, I'd suspect there's either an LPD daemon running on her PC and you need to set up a queue to print to it, or there was Samba-ness involved.

If the latter, Samba's the prime suspect, since the printing could quite possibly be originating from your pc instead of the AIX box.

From the remote PC, she uses Munis - it sends xwindows to the remote PC. We tried to get a VPN working, but her firewall uses IP Masquerading and we couldn't get Munis to work. PCAmywhere does allow you to set up a "pca" port, and will print to her local printer. AIX will print to a local Windows 2000 printer. Print services for Unix has to be installed and the TCP/IP Printing server service has to be running. I guess what I really need to know is, is there a "print services for Unix" service for Windows 98? (Maybe I am in the wrong forum)
