I'd like to use flash as a user interface design tool to produce wireframes for a large project.

My plan is to move developers from static PDFs for documentation to dynamic swfs or PDFs to communicate the design and provide prototying at the same time.

All a great idea, but how can I get the swf to convert to a dynamic PDF.

I've tried the printJob class with out any luck.

anyone ever do anyting like this before?

does it sound like a good idea?

let me know

thanks ken,

however I've look at blaze before it only produces static pages.

Like like to also use flash functionality to produce a prototype at the same time allowing the view to ckcik on a buton let say and move to the frame that contains the design and descriptions for that page of a prototyped application.

I could build a paging menu and just deliver the swf or and exe but that wont help me print the pages (frame) form the swf.

thanks any way that will help with half of my problem

let me know

I would like to print the content of my swf (dynamic stuff included) to a pdf.

printjob class works by printing to flash papers, however, not all dynamic content is sent over using the addpage function.

What I'd really like to do is design a web page (or applicaiton page) on a section of the stage, and then provide developer notes on a different section of the stage (using 1 frame per page) and also provide an example of how any interaction design should work by using flash.

The developer will have a page lay out with instuctions for interface design and be able to click on (let's say) a drop down and see the content of the drop down on that page.

prototyping and wire frame design in the same document.

trying to think outside the box

to have the option for busness folks to print and store the document in their document archieves.

it corporate america and they require certain standard (whether they make sense or not)

I've seen dynamic PDF as eMagizines and was wondering how far I could take thi concept.

one document would be better than two or three etc.

anyone every done something like this before?

Although this is nothing to do with Flash but this may be interesting: <
If you need to use Flash then I think it's a matter of finding dynamic PDF generator, then you just feed the data it needs from your SWF to get the PDF generated. Seemingly most of them are for static PDF though. I don't know if Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator above can generate dynamic PDF, if so in theory you can feed an XML into it from your SWF…
