getting the following error on windows 2003 sp1 print server. any ideas??? Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x0002f583.

When the spooler stops (crashes) this is probably due to buggy printer drivers. Try to install latest ones from the vendor. Not sure about the following but since ntddl.dll is involved looks like you have old NT4 based drivers. These run in kernel mode as opposed to native W2K or W2K3 printer drivers which run in User mode. Look in your printer drivers (Start/Printers and faxes/File/Server properties/Drivers) When there are any NT4 drivers you should *really* find more recent ones...

have downloaded the latest drivers from the xerox website and confirmed whether or not im using the correct drivers. checked server properties and no reference to nt. i also moved all items from the spool\printers folder to temp folder and restarted the spool service. has not stopped yet this morning.

spool service has stopped again

the print spooler is crashing a lot more often now i have reinstalled the drivers i have noticed that in c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers directory there were drivers already there not ones i have loaded is it safe to remove these? they could be older drivers? although this was a brand new server 2003 install so cant understand how they got there in the first place?

There is a Microsoft tool called cleanspl or spoolcln or something that does a complete clean of the print server (drivers)
Maybe try this and then reinstall the latest drivers. Anyway, spooler crashing is almost certainly a print driver issue...
