Hey everyone,

My sales guy came to me with a great question
that was proposed by one of our clients. Is
there any way to increase the speed of Epson
TM-T88s? Can I flash new firmware? Change the
print speed in the options menu of the printer?
Is there anything I can do to increase the
amount tickets it can print within an hour? I
have TM-T88Vs, which I thought were the fastest,
however not fast enough you this client that
prints 2000 tickets a day on a bad day.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Your friendly neighborhood tech guy

Not to my knowledge. The only thing I could think of off hand would be to increase the buffer size via the internal dip switches (located on the underside of the printer).

If i'm correct, those printers are limited to 300mm per second MAX. I run some 88v's, and having it print QR codes is slow. They do OK with regular text though. I guess my question would be how they are hooked up. I would imagine the network option would print faster than your usual serial connection to the terminal.

Where I am at we use several TM88 IV & V's with IP cards and I don't see much of a lag. However, we don't print any barcodes or QR codes.

why not get 2 printers and run them as alternating printers or if you can't do alternating, find a way to split the printing between the terminals or order types.

What interface are you using on the printers? Serial, IDN, Ethernet?

How fast are they currently printing? Can you do some tests?

How busy are they really? Even if they were printing 5000 tickets a day and were operating a 12 hour day that's only 1 printout every 7 seconds. And that's one printer. Are you printouts taking longer than a 1-2 seconds?

Do you want some custom SIM scripts developed. Contact me via my website

adjusting the thermal print "density" via the dip switches effects print speed, if the printers are set to highest density (IE:darkest print), the TmT88 will print at their slowest speed.
