We're running Windows Server 2003 on a small local network in this specific office. We have a HP 4700 and a 4730 on the network. What continues to randomly happen is when a user prints a job (small or large) the print service fails (i believe). The logs doesn't reflect a failure and the service is still running, but in able to process the queued print job I have to restart the print service.

Any suggestions?

Most likely a print driver. Try to narrow it down to whcih printer is causing the error.

Well the problem isn't specific to any one printer. The MAC's (which their are 3) on the network never cause the problem. Everyone's machine is up to date on SP and updates.

Only periodically does this occur (once every day or two) but it's only from Windows based machines and it doesn't matter what printer they select.

Are the print drivers current on the server?

You know. I haven't checked the versions. I'll do that now.
