Hi.
Is it possible to put a Print Server in Linux to work like Netware´s pserver? What i mean is to have the print server on a Linux server without having any printers directly connected to the server.
I have a network with about 40 workstations (Win98 and WinXP), 4 of them with a printer connected. The Linux server is working as a PDC. I am currently using Windows sharing with the printers, so if I send a job to a printer when it´s workstation is not turned on, Windows shows error messages and sets the printer offline. I would like to have the print queues on the server, so if a workstation sends a job with the printer workstation torned off it stays on the server till the workstation is turned on, with no error messages and no problems.
Netware does this with pserver.nlm and nprinter.exe. Is there something like this for Linux? It seems that cups could do this if the workstations were also Linux, but I found nothing for Windows workstations.
Thanks,
Marcelo
