Print queues

We are printing through Solaris_8. The printers are setup as PS printers and we are using a u2d (unix to dos) filter in order to avoid stair-stepping issues. The application team requires compression and landscape printing but the PS model does not accept these commands. Plus the pages are printing with a 1 to 2 inch margin and cutting off the left side of the forms. How can landscape printing be achieved?
