I have a print queue defined on the system (AIX 5.2) that has also been made available to the Lawson application. The queue has been set - via smit - to not print header/trailer pages. However, when printing to this queue, a header page is printed anyway.

I've poked in/around the queue definitions, etc. but dont see anything amiss. I am unfamilar with the Lawson app, so have no idea if there is anything to look at there.

How can I get this queue to stop printing header pages? Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Hi Scott. What happens when you print something from the command line? If there are no header/trailing pages, Id say that suggests it's something your app is sending.

All I ask of you
Is make my wildest dreams come true

Yes, find out what options for what spooler command the app is sending.

If you can't figure out a way to alter the app's spool command line options, you may have to write a wrapper script for enq or qprt or whatever the app is using and find a way to filter out the banner options...

I wasnt able to find out what parameters the application is/was passing to the print que, but I did find if you issue this command:

chvirprt -d hp@<que device> -q <que name> -a sh=

IE: chvirprt -d hp@blackrk -q blackrkp -a sh=

Then any printout sent to the blackrkp print que will not have a header page.

To remove the trailer, same command just replace the sh with st.

Oh, and no need to write a wrapper and its queue specific - so you can have some printers spit out headers/trailers and others not.
