My wife wants to kill me.
We lived fairly happily with Word 2000 on WinMe and our
Lexmark Z65 printer. But we got a new computer with XP
Home and now she CAN'T print on her custom stationary.
The Print Preview looks fine on a document with the Page
Setup for a 146mm x 195mm piece of paper. But when we go
to print, all the text is moved to the right an extra 2
inches! It warns that the text is "outside the
prinatable range" but the option to "Fix" is not there
and no amount of resizing results in a proper printout.
I heard about the "Fix" margins thing in various
knowledge base articles like "189889 WD2000: Page Borders
May Be Displayed or Printed Incorrectly" and others, but
none of the solutions like "set Measure Border to Text
instead of Page" don't help. The setting "Allow A4 paper
resizing" has no effect.
I've downloaded the non-generic XP-specific driver from
Lexmark, and done a Web-Checkup for updates. I even
tried an experimental driver version not yet signed with
the XP logo.
No luck UNLESS I manually set the paper size in the Z65
Printer settings to the exact document size. It was
easier for my wife when the printer detected the paper
size automatically and Windows Millenium restarted itself
after (he he!). Somebody help me before my wife ...
