I have an 8 page, 5.5 X 8.5 document. I want to print 2 pages on 8.5 X 11 paper, put it on the copier, copy on both sides to 2 pieces of paper, fold them and have a book. I want to understand how to do this from both InDesign and if I export it to pdf. I keep getting it in page order, not copy order. For example, the first sheet would have page 8 and page 1. The next sheet would have page 2 and page 7. (I actually will have a half page insert, so I have pages 3 & 4 duplicated because I didn't know if Indesign could figure that one out. But just incase, can it do that too?)

You are looking for 'imposition' features. Search the forum for lengthy discussion of this.

There are some free scripts at but many prefer to use InBooklet from alap.com.
