i have a printer postscript version II compatible...
on my mac os 8 i have installed laserwriter8 and select the corrisponent ppd file...
but when i try to print a document with a non-postscript font, the page remain blank...
the problem is:
1)with a postscript printer we can only print postscript font... (there's a driver that convert non-postscrip font into bitmap?)
2)a non-postscript font is printed only is installed correlated ps font type (in this case what match a ps font with a non-ps font?)
3)the printer doesn't work properly...(but have a week!)

thanks
Peter...

I know I'm replying to old messages, but someone later may come along seeking answers to the same questions.

So, you're right. PostScript printers print PostScript fonts. It's up to the OS or font-management tool to either convert non-PS fonts to PS and send them with the job, or provide a lookup table, where you can make a given Truetype (or whatever) to a PostScript font.
