I'm trying to document a Paradox project inherited from another team. I would like to export or print a listing of each field's properties and identification of key fields for each file. Some would call it a data dictionary. Any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

You may want to look at the infoStructure command under Tools.

Unfortunately I don't know of an easy way to do this. You should look at View -> Document source for a report of all the code and Format -> Data Model for table link info. There are also a number of object tools that can be helpfully, in object Help look up enum... methods such as enumUIObjectProperties() just copy the code from the help file and put it into a button on the form.

Hope this helps

0897867564534231,

Depending on your version of Paradox, you may wish to take a look at the Documentation Expert, which provides a number of different reports for various database objects, including:

-- Table structures
-- QBE and SQL Queries
-- Form and report objects (and their properties)
-- Data models of forms and reports
-- ObjectPAL source (if any)
-- Files and Directories

While some of the reports are rather basic, they do provide the type of information you're looking for.

Sadly, the report layouts cannot be customized. However, you can create customized reports in ObjectPAL.

Hope this helps...

Lance,

Good tip, I've been using Paradox for over 10 years and have never looked into the experts, duh.
