print dialogue box takes forever to come up

hey guys im using acrobat 7 professional and on a few PC's when i try to print a PDF and i goto File > Print an hourglass comes up and it takes forever for the print settings screen to come up - this is a very annoying issue all the PC's are brand new..P4 3.0 GHz 1GB mem - any ideas? ran all adobe updates also up to 7.09

Are the machines running Vista? If so, you might want to check Adobe's site to see if they have any upgrade to 7 for Vista.

no..they are xp pro machines

...try running the detect and repair command from within acrobat pro first...

...also print as image can reduce print time:

* Click on the Windows Start menu
* Click on Printers and Faxes
* Select the printer you normally use
* Click the Right Mouse button to bring up the printers context menu
* Select Printing Preferences... from the right mouse menu
* Click on the Advanced tab
* Click on the resolution settings
* Select 300DPI
* Set “Graphic Mode” for Vector
* Click “OK”.

...you could also try recreating your printer in windows xp, deleting the old one to try and freshen things up a bit...

maybe i worded this problem wrong..the problem isnt the actual print time..once the document gets sent to the printer it comes right out no problem..the problem is getting the screen where you actually select the printer to come up quick..it takes way toio long for just that to come up
