Machines are Win2k; Acrobat Pro v6; Reader V6.0.2; Office 2003. Print to file is not checked; I switched from pcl driver to ps; switched printers just for fun.. but everytime it takes about 30+seconds for the print dialog box to come up. What am I missing? Thanks
You don't say what sort of printers, and whether they are directly connected to the computer you are trying to print from, or whether they are on a network. Both could have a bearing on your problem.
I tried on 2 hp4000 printers - they are on the network. I found another user who is having the same problem...may be that I have to upgrade Acrobat Pro to v7?
Check to see what happens if you try to print from Reader rather than Acrobat. Also check to see how long it takes to bring up the print window for another application like Word. If the window is still slow, it's a network problem.
I doubt 7 is going to do anyhing to improve this. It's mostly feature updates. You might check for updates to 6 though. There are some.
It takes just as long to print from Acrobat Reader as it does Acrobat Pro. Brought up another document in Word to print - dialog box came up in a matter of seconds... Did see in Task Manager that Acrobat Reader stops responding while the diaglog box attempts to come up..as soon as the print box comes up, program becomes active again.
Did you change print servers recently? We had the same problem, but it wasn't happening for all users. We found that users that had printers pointing to a print server that doesn't exist were having the problem. They deleted those printers and the print dialog box opened right up.
