I want to verify that security is in place at all the correct spots for printing checks. If I want to prevent users from printing checks, in >> Tools >> Setup >> System >> Security

Select the User, company, GP, Windows, Purchasing

I verify Post Payables Checks and Edit Payables Checks are not selected.

Is there anywhere else I need to go to make certain an employee doesn't have check printing abilities? (any of the reports, for example).

I'm new to GP and have to make certain SOX policies are properly in place.

Thanks,

Omar

What version of GP are you using? If it's 7.0 or anything after, I would strongly recommend using Advanced Security instead of regular security (which is what you are using by following the path you gave above).

Separately from that, you really want to take away security from Print Payables Checks and Print Payables Transaction Check screens. Edit Payables Checks is where you select what checks to print, but you still need another screen to actually print them. Post Payables Checks are where you end up after you've already printed them. So neither really addresses the issue of printing checks.

Viewing reports or past transactions makes no difference in having the ability to print checks, so there is no need to take away those screens.

Hope that helps,
Victoria

You might want to check out Security Auditor by Rockton Software. It is an add-on to the Auditor product that has a matrix of great plains windows (including 3rd party dictionaries) with users and their access. It also allows you to show Segregration of Duties conflicts. There is an online demonstration at
