I was able to print barcodes on printers like LQ-2180 and LX-300+ series thru using escape codes...i'm just wondering if its possible with FX-1170 series

The best way to know for certain is to find the Programming Command Language (PCL) reference for that specific printer and compare its values with the printers that you have already had success.
In general, Epson codes are pretty common from one model to another, but you can either investigate the documentation as recommended, or you can use "trial & error" to check it out.
