Prime Set for Flash question

I always used to set the prime set as the receptionist's telephone in case there was a problem with Flash.

However reading on here in several posts and in the manual actually, it says to make the Flash the Prime Set.

I've set up a Flash here for a future install with a rather detailed CCR Tree. When testing it, I found that even though in F982 it's set for Ans Lines = N, as well the AA setting, that it still answers.

Given that, how can I get it to stop answering while modifying the CCR, or do0es it really matter?

All sets have lines to Appear only & will only ring at 221 after the DRT has kicked in as it should.

So normally the call will ring the Prime Set for any call regardless of the DRT timer.
When you make the Flash the Prime Set then AA will answer and why your AA/Line and Operator Status is ignored.
This I believe is software dependent as I used to do the same in case it crashes.

You must disable the Tree in Table before making the changes, if you do not disable while making changes to CCR then hope nobody calls in while you are doing so.
Only older systems you have no choice but to disable first.

It has the latest software and even though I may not need to disable the tree, I always do...out of habit.

It's just that I was taught to always tell it tom not answer lines as well.

By setting the Prime set as the Flash DN the lines will be answered regardless of the lines settings in the Flash(the ring delay, Ans=N or in F982 ANS LINES=N will be overridden). It has the same results as setting a line to ring on the Flash DN in NORMAL ringing or a RING GROUP. This was used in the early days of voice mail as a means of "CFNA the lines to voice mail". It is no longer the preferred method as you have less control. PRIME LINE should be either NONE or a reception DN as a failover in case the voice mail goes down. The lines will follow the DRT rule and ring on the PRIME SET when the DRT timer expired. Note: if a line is not set to ring anywhere, it ring on the prime set immediately, regardless of the DRT timer.

As for updating the CCR, in all versions of voice mail prior to Call Pilot 2.1, the CCR tree must be disabled for any changes to be saved. If not disabled, you will get a warning msg "TREE ENABLED" when you log into the CCR section of the voice mail programming. If you make changes they will be ignored and not saved.
