ok i have two drives on my computer i was trying to install windows xp on one drive and i was succesful in doing that but then i tried to format the slave drive to have nice clean drive but it froze about half way and had to turn off my pc and restart and when i restarted i now get primary slave drive boot failure and then it tells me " press f1 to continue or f2 to enter setup. is there anyway to fix this problem

oh iam sorry it didnt say boot up failure it just said primary slave drive failure. oh and it also wont even show up in my computer. i should have 2 drives but i only have one

Computer is probably seeing old "active" boot partition. Put the "problem" drive in the computer ALONE, as master. Boot with win98 floppy. Partition and format (no system). Put back as originally set up and drive should be seen as normal slave.

ok i tried to use fdisk but after it ask me if i want to use all available space, the next screen came up saying error reading disk so i dont know what to do after that

Go to drive manufacturer's website and download their diagnostic utility to check it out - it sounds like the drive is dying.
